DETAILS
During this in-person workshop, we will dive into the art of Ikebana ~ a Japanese style of arranging flowers that is focused on minimalism, negative space, and dramatic asymmetry. Learn how to work with the seasons and what nature has to offer, creating movement and balance in every composition, and celebrating simplicity, in this unique style of flower arranging.
You will learn about the history and symbolism surrounding this meditative art form, as well as three distinct styles of Ikebana that will take you on a journey of form, color, placement, and storytelling. We will discuss the tools and techniques required, and offer a wide selection of fresh, locally grown flowers for you to create your own arrangement to take home with you.
This class is a wonderful way to connect with the local community and learn about the meaningful and intentional art form that will hopefully become a lifelong tradition to bring peace and tranquility to you and your home. We hope you can join us!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
The workshop will be taught by Chloe Greenwell, a freelance florist and artist in Petaluma who works heavily within the event and wedding arena. She obtained her training through Bloom Generation, a San Rafael-based floral designer who focuses on working within the seasons and employing a deep knowledge of plant medicine and flower symbolism. Taking these teachings, you will now find her working at Wild Fennel, where she creates flower magic using sustainable practices and seasonal blooms. She has always been drawn to art forms that celebrate Mother Nature's natural forms and colors.
